Tango Talks! (El tango nos habla)

Cuando nos traicionan creemos aceptar ese destino, pero cuando el tiempo pasa y el dolor es ya insoportable somos capaces de cualquier cosa para vengar la afrenta, aunque el amor sea irrecuperable y la vida ya no tenga sentido.  El tango ya lo sabia!

When somebody betrays us we are prone to accept that fate, but as time passes and the pain is unbearable we are capable of anything to avenge the affront, although love is now irrecoverable and life has no sense anymore. Tango already knew!

Fiorentino fue sin duda el arquetipo del cantor de la orquesta, concepto que describe sintéticamente la principal característica del tango de los años cuarenta, donde el cantor era un integrante de la formación al igual que los músicos, en otras palabras su voz fue otro instrumento.

Fiorentino was undoubtedly the archetypal orchestra tipica singer, a concept which synthetically describes the main feature of tango in the forties, where the singer was a member of the orchestra as musicians, in other words his/her voice was another instrument.

No fue un virtuoso, su voz era pequeña y su dicción confusa, pero estas características técnicas no impidieron su impresionante éxito.  Su vida artística junto a Troilo duró seis años, debutó el primero de julio de 1937, en el cabaret Marabú y se desvinculó en marzo de 1944.

He was not a virtuoso, his voice was small and his diction confusing, but these features did not prevent his impressive success. His artistic life with Troilo lasted six years, debuted the 1st. of July of 1937, in the cabaret Marabou and split in March of 1944,

Su personalidad, su buen gusto y la dirección permanente de Pichuco dieron como resultado un cantor intimista, de gran calidez interpretativa que supo conmover a su público, convirtiéndose en un hito en la historia de los vocalistas de tango.

His personality, his taste and the permanent direction of Pichuco (Anibal Troilo)  resulted in an intimate singer of great warmth who knew how to move the audience, becoming a landmark in the history of tango vocalists.

Castellano: No sé, pero a veces quisiera encontrarlo así frente a frente, pa 'ver si es capaz de mirarme fijo al interpelarlo ya que es de coraje como lo pintás. O creés que he nacido pa' vivir temblando? Soy mucho más hombre de lo que sabés... Desde hoy, día y noche lo vi' andar buscando y donde yo me cuadre ya me vas a ver. Total, pa'qué sirvo! Sin ella mi vida no es vida ni es nada. No sé más quién soy... Total, pa'qué sirvo! Si mi alma está herida... si no hay madrugada que me halle dormido, me encuentro perdido. No ves cómo estoy! *Pensé muchas noches en no hacerle caso, dejarlo tranquilo, perdonar su acción, y no hallo remedio; mis horas las paso cerrando los puños con esta obsesión. Habló mi experiencia. Por eso hasta ahora luché pa' ser fuerte, no lo quise ver. Y todo es inútil, mis ojos la lloran tendré que perderme por esa mujer.*

English: I don't know, but sometimes I would like to find him face-to-face, to see if he is able to look at me when I question him since he is of courage as you say. Or you think that I was born to live trembling? I am more manly than you know... From today on, day and night I will be looking for him and you'll see me when I found him. In sum, without her for what I’m good for! Without her my life it is not a life nor anything. I don't know anymore who I'm... In sum, without her for what I'm good for! If my soul is wounded... if there is no dawn that found me asleep, I find myself lost. Don't you see how I am! *I thought many nights not paying attention, let him quiet, forgiving his action, and I don't find a remedy; spent my hours clenching fists with this obsession. My experience spoke. That is why until  now I struggled to be strong, I didn't want to see. And it is all useless, my eyes cries for her I'll have to loose myself for that woman.*
