Celosa (Jealous)

Vals (Argentine Waltz)

Music: Pablo Rodríguez
Lyrics: Pablo Rodríguez (Mercedes Simone's husband)

Orchestra: Emilio J.Brameri
Singer: Mercedes Simone. Nickname: La Dama del Tango (The "Tango Lady")
Recorded: 1966

Curated and translated by Luigi Seta

Jealousy has always been a source of many conflicts and songs, but none as beautiful as this waltz composed by Pablo Rodriguez and despite his Argentine origin it has been performed by Mexican singers after becoming famous in the voice of his wife Mercedes Simone, the "Female Gardel" as people called her, superbly performed with orchestra, bandoneon and the clean vocals for what she has been known.

Castellano:

Que has vencido mi alma,
Nunca te he querido, para qué negarlo
No quiero tu amor.

Jamás he pensado llorar un cariño,
Jamás he sabido lo que era sufrir,
Por qué te has marchado
Sin darme ni un beso,
Qué pena, Dios mío, me siento morir.

English:

I do not know why you say, that you saw in my eyes,
That I was crying, jealous of you.
As much as you see me sometimes tearful,
Please don’t believe that I regret the lost love.
A very clear proof, you had this afternoon,
You passed by with another woman, to see me suffer,
And instead of getting angry, as you have believed
I turned my face and started laughing.

If I cry don’t think that is for your love
That I have already lost,
It is not worth to spill more tears
For a love.
Already cried enough when I imagined
That you were about to forget me,
Yes before I cried, but today I do not cry
For your heart.

But yes I remember those moments
When you told me,
How much you loved me with all the affection
Of your heart
But no, please don’t think that I have been so sluggish
That you've defeated my soul
I never loved you, why deny it
I do not want your love.

I will not deny it, that I have been jealous
Seeing that with another woman you mocked me,
After the warmth of your mouth was mine
And crazy, on your lips, I gave you a thousand kisses.
I never thought to mourn a love,
I have never knew what it was to suffer,
Why you have gone
Without giving me one kiss,
I am so sad, my God, I feel like dying.

Es Hora De Vivir (It's Time To Live)

Tango

Music: Enrique Francini - Lyrics: Carlos Behar
Orchestra: Enrique Francini
Singer: Alberto Podesta
Date: 07/27/1956

Curated and Translated by Luigi Seta

Castellano:

English:

Why to talk about my past and your past
if the past did not know about this love,
I don’t care what you've been or have loved,
why do you want to know about my past.
It only matters us giving ourselves to the destiny
that brings us in this adventure another illusion,
our story begins here with the plan
that is having us met in this afternoon of the two.

Lost in the life, our past
it was the bad, it stayed where it was ...
Leave all as is,
Let’s have unlifted the veil of mystery between us.
My mouth will erase all the kisses
that in your mouth burned the passion,
life begins here in this world
that suddenly opens us to illusion.
It's time to live!
we are together,
and love is a divine temptation ...

Let’s forget for good whatever it was,
because in this new chance of the two,
it only matters what we are today united,
what is bringing each other with all the heart.
