En la década de 1930 el Foxtrot fue un género de baile muy popular en Buenos Aires, cabeza a cabeza con el Tango. Desarrollado en la década de 1910, el foxtrot alcanzó su máxima popularidad en los comienzos de los años 30, coincidiendo su éxito con la primera decadencia del tango como danza, por lo cual, en ese entonces muchas orquestas típicas incorporaron el foxtrot en sus repertorios, adaptando la letra original del Inglés al Castellano .
On the 1930's decade Foxtrot was a very popular dancing genre in Buenos Aires, hand to hand with Tango. Developed in the 1910s, the foxtrot reached its height of popularity in the beginning of the 30s coinciding its success with the first decay of tango as a dance, so then many Orquestas Típicas had foxtrot in its repertoires, adapting the original lyrics from English to Castellano.
En realidad debo decir que el foxtrot absorbió desde su creación muchas de las cualidades del tango, hasta su paso básico fue una adaptación de un paso de tango bailado antes de la Primera Guerra Mundial. A principios de la década de 1930 hubo una fugaz moda de un híbrido llamado "Tango- Foxtrot".
In all justice, I should say that foxtrot absorbed many qualities from tango, even its basic step is an adaptation of a tango step danced before that First World War. In the early 1930s was a brief vogue for a hybrid called “Tango-Foxtrot”.

Fue cuando Juan D'Arienzo, el padre del primer renacimiento del tango, tuvo en 1935 la gran visión de recuperar el ritmo del 2x4 de la Vieja Guardia y tocar de nuevo los viejos tangos, pero ahora en su nuevo estilo característico, por lo cual el tango volvió a ser muy bailable y popular .
It was when Juan D’Arienzo, the father of the first renaissance of tango, had the great vision ( exactly in 1935) of taking back the 2x4 rhythm of the Vieja Guardia to perform afresh the old tangos, but now in its characteristic new style, making tango very dance-able and popular again.
Si a eso le sumamos la contribución del gran talento de Rodolfo Biagi en el piano de la orquesta, tenemos la perfecta receta ganadora para enviar el foxtrot nuevamente al hemisferio norte. A finales de la década de 1930 la batalla ya habia sido ganada por el tango, estableciendo su supremacía en Buenos Aires hasta 1955, o sea el comienzo del final de la Época de Oro.
If we add to that the contribution of the great talent of Rodolfo Biagi at the formation’s piano, we have just the perfect recipe for victory, sending foxtrot back to the Northern Hemisphere. By the end of the 1930s the battle was already won by tango, setting its supremacy in Buenos Aires until 1955, the begining of the end of the Golden Age.
